SA+CD Digital Badging

What is a Digital Badge?

A digital badge is a visual, shareable representation of a student’s co-curricular achievements, skills, and experiences outside the classroom. Issued by Student Affairs and Campus Diversity, these badges validate learning, leadership, service, and diversity engagement across SDSU’s vibrant student community.

Each badge is backed by criteria that demonstrate outcomes—whether it's a leadership retreat, service hours, or skill development. Once earned, badges can be posted to LinkedIn profiles, email signatures, or digital resumes to showcase your involvement and growth to potential employers, grad schools, and your professional network.

Digital badges are more than icons—they’re proof of your commitment to learning and leading at SDSU.

Benefits of Earning a Digital Badge

Digital badges are designed to help you stand out professionally while reflecting your personal and leadership journey at SDSU.

Why earn a badge?

  • Highlight real-world skills: Show evidence of teamwork, leadership, DEI, and service.
  • Boost your digital presence: Shareable on platforms like LinkedIn and Handshake.
  • Tell your co-curricular story: Employers want more than GPAs—they want proof of initiative.
  • Track your development: Visualize your journey through different levels of involvement.

How to Use Your Badge

Once awarded, digital badges can be:

  • Added to your LinkedIn profile under “Licenses & Certifications”
  • Embedded in your email signature for professional communication
  • Included in digital resumes to enhance your job or internship applications
  • Each badge links to detailed information about the experience and criteria, giving your network insight into your accomplishments.
